Part 1 of 4
So often when I ask a client what they like to do I get one of two responses: They look like a deer in the headlights – or – they begin listing all their duties as a partner, parent, friend, community member (the list goes on!)
How would you answer the following question:
- What do you do to relax?
- What hobbies are your favorite?
- What is your favorite color/food/song?
- What makes you feel good or accomplished?
Once you have the answers to the questions write them down & ask yourself when the last time was that you did any of them. (no negative internal dialog!)
Now that you know what to look forward to, set a goal of squeaking one in this week.
Example: I have a pretty busy schedule & as a mompreneur I spend A LOT of my “free time” educating myself on marketing or running a business or research for my next workshop. I like to read, so I put a personal reading book in my car. This month it is “Racing in the Rain”. Then when I find that I’m sitting in the parking lot of the school waiting for the 5 minutes or so I pick up my book & spend a little “me-time” reading.
I found this reward works very well as a strategy for being on time as well, since I’m looking forward to my 5 minutes of personal reading I want to be a little early!
Me-Time Assignment:
- Answer the questions above
- Do at least one small thing for yourself
Next week: Scheduling Life
