Me Time | Re-Fueling

Me Time | Free Yourself from Clutter and Chaos
Part 3 of 4 (view previous articles from this series)
Now that you know what will happen during your “me-time” & you’ve established where you’re going to plug it in each week, let’s take a look at the critical component of Re-Fueling. You may be wondering … what does re-fueling have to do with organization? Well, everything!

If you’re not re-fueling yourself during your “me-time”, then you won’t see a reason for continuing this newly acquired habit that revolves around focus, time management and an improved lifestyle!

As you evaluate the items you’ve chosen for “me-time” ask yourself the following questions:

  • Do I feel better when “me-time” is done?
  • Do I over look the “me-time” as a negotiable item?
  • Is “me-time” celebrated or dreaded?
  • Am I more stressed out since I began trying to fit this “me-time” in?
  • Have I adjusted my list of “me-time” items as I’ve progressed through these learning guides?

Example: “This is an easy example to give this week. When my kids were younger I used to LOVE scrapbooking! So much so, that I even became a part-time employee of a scrapbook store – helping them develop their workshops. However, over the years (& tons of pictures later) I realized that I just didn’t feel the same joy I used to when I was done working on my pages. I began to avoid the hobby, I stopped wanting to take pictures and eventually stopped calling myself a scrapbooker. I’m actually not sure why the shift took place, other than I grew personally in a different direction. When I stopped looking forward to the time set aside I knew I had to find something different to do.

One of the most evident signs of this shift was that I was still stressed out after having time to do something I thought I loved. Which did nothing for my motivation to accomplish other tasks that stressed me out (like cooking dinner or paying bills).

I soon replaced my scrapbooking time with reading a good book or going for a walk or even catching up with my recorded prime time shows. When I was done with each of them I felt rested & ready to tackle the next catastrophe waiting for me!

Checking in with how you feel after your “me-time” is equally important as making the time for it!”
