Renuvion

When you first hear about Renuvion skin tightening, you might think it's one other minimally invasive technology. However, Renuvion powered by J-Plasma has several unique features besides the obvious advantages over invasive surgery. These are features you can't find in other types of cosmetic technology. Continue reading to learn more about this revolutionary new procedure that can tighten skin and take the years off your face, either as a stand alone procedure or in combination with other types of cosmetic surgery.

What is Renuvion J-Plasma® skin tightening treatment?

Renuvion treatment is an FDA-approved cosmetic technology for skin tightening. Renuvion works by introducing helium plasma energy and RF waves to the skin. This generates enough heat to allow tightening of loose skin and elevation of sagging skin without the need for surgery. Renuvion cosmetic technology is ideal for use in any part of the body where there is skin laxity. Renuvion treatments are most commonly performed on the face and neck.

How does Renuvion work?

Renuvion powered by J-Plasma® is a skin tightening treatment that uses ionized helium gas. A small amount of the gas is converted to plasma at low temperatures. RF energy is also added to the helium. The plasma heats the surrounding tissue. The excess helium gas cools to form a very powerful and highly precise stream of cold plasma.

The heat from the plasma beam ablates (destroys) tissue under the skin. While this may sound counterintuitive, the dual thermal effect actually corrects many age-related problems such as loose skin and sagging skin. This is achieved by kickstarting the body's natural healing processes and stimulating collagen production in the surrounding tissue. Collagen is the protein in soft tissue that gives it structure and smoothness. With age, less collagen is made, leading to skin laxity. Renuvion skin achieved with the cool plasma has more collagen. This results in skin tightening with a face that looks smoother and younger.

What can Renuvion J-Plasma treat?

As noted, the most common treatment area is the face and neck. However, the Renuvion device can be used to tighten skin in virtually any part of the body with loose skin. And this can be done without the extended downtime associated with an invasive surgery like a face lift or other invasive skin rejuvenation procedures. Notably, J-plasma Renuvion is one of the few skin rejuvenation procedures that can be used to treat more delicate skin such as the skin of the eyelids.

Is it a minimally invasive procedure?

Yes, Renuvion skin tightening with J-plasma is a minimally invasive technology that leaves little or no scarring and is associated with minimal downtime.

Who is a good candidate for Renuvion?

Both men and women with mild sagging of the skin in the cheeks, jowls, neck, or other parts of the body are good candidates for Renuvion. However, patients with more advanced signs of aging in the face may not get optimal results or desired results from plasma energy treatment. In such patients, a facelift surgery or other invasive procedures may be necessary to achieve more noticeable or dramatic results.

If you are in general good health, you are a non-smoker, and you are within 10 pounds of your ideal body weight, you will be a good candidate for J plasma skin treatments. These treatments are especially suitable for you if you want remarkable results from a single treatment and also want a shorter recovery time than a face lift surgery.

What happens during a Renuvion procedure?

Renuvion is an outpatient procedure. You do not need general anesthesia. The treatment can be done with local anesthesia (numbing medicine). Your aesthetic provider will simply paint the skin in the treatment area with the J plasma device. The radiofrequency waves and plasma will generate heat while the helium gas simultaneously cools your skin. There will be no large surgical scars. Plastic surgeons only need to make tiny incisions in the skin to make a small entry point for the Renuvion device. Most patients tolerate the procedure well.

Recovery and results after Renuvion skin resurfacing

You will need to wear a compression garment in the treatment area to get the best results from your cool plasma skin treatment. This helps to keep the swelling down. You will see the results about 3 weeks after your procedure and will continue to improve for several months afterwards.

How many treatments will I need?

The majority of patients need 1-2 J plasma skin treatments. The results usually last 3-5 years. You can return to your cosmetic provider for a touch-up every 6 months or so to maintain your results.

Can you combine Renuvion with other procedures?

Yes, a Renuvion procedure can be combined with other non-invasive procedures such as chemical peels or more invasive treatments like liposuction. Your aesthetic provider will give you options at the time of your Renuvion consultation.

How much does Renuvion J-Plasma treatment cost?

The price range for Renuvion skin tightening ranges from $700 to $15,000. The average cost of the treatments is around $6,000.
